Half Man Half Biscuit - Vatican Broadside
Yesterday's track needed 20 minutes of your valuable time to listen to. It would have been time well spent, but even so, not everyone has that time. If you feel cheated because your busy life denies you the opportunity to listen to great1 music, then at only 30 seconds long, this song is for you.
You can fit a lot into 30 seconds. Spend them well, and you can tell a great story. You can move someone to tears, you can state a political position - you can even conduct a brief cultural investigation. Half Man Half Biscuit do none of those things. Vatican Broadside is an implausible joke with bonus swearing. It's ludicrous and absolutely charming. I'd even go so far as to say it's just about perfect2.
It's taken from their 2001 EP Editor's Recommendation. My recommendation is that you get hold of a copy.
