Terry Edwards & the Scapegoats - Dog Food
Sorry about the lack of blog yesterday. This computer died on me in spectacular fashion, and I was forced to reinstall Windows. Since it only came with a pre-installed OEM copy, this was more awkward than it might have been.

Anyway, back when I started Doklands I had a policy of never featuring more than one track from any one album. It was a very good policy. It kept the music on here from slipping into formulaic patterns, and also meant that I wasn't taking away from album sales. 500 or so tracks later, it became clear that it was not a policy that was suited to daily blogging. To mark the occasion of this blog's first repeat, I'm returning to the first album that ever got plundered for my daily writings, I Didn't Get Where I Am Today by Terry Edwards & the Scapegoats.

Dog Food is their cover of Iggy & the Stooges classic I Wanna Be Your Dog. It's been covered many times before, but seldom as vigorously as this. Regardless of what volume you play this song at, it is loud. Edwards is a guy who has paid his dues in bands and as a session musician for over 20 years, and it's clear that he's one of the very best. This is a blistering arrangement, ballsy and bluesy, and the distortion on the vocals is just so. You need this one.

Well tell him from me that it's an excellent record. It just oozes music.

I definitely fall into patterns. Though I don't plan on changing it, it's led to perception problems. After posting reggae on a consistent basis, after I went on a country tear I had people asking where the reggae was.

this blog's first repeat

Repeating isn't a sin. I've been following music blogs since 2005 and noticed the high traffic sites do it as well. I've probably reposted some songs three times. I figure there's a constant churning of readership and the great majority of readers weren't around when I first posted a tune. One of things I've noticed, most music blogs have about two years of good posts, then they run out of ideas and songs to post. I feel that's why variety and repeats are necessary.

Two years? That gives me about another nine months.

At which point the crystal on your palm goes white. Or was it red, I forget?

Oh, I'd be long gone if we were playing by those rules.
