Eilert Pilarm - Jailhouse Rock
I'm not at my best first thing in the morning. I can usually manage a few simple phrases along the lines of "What time?" and "Need bathroom now", but overall my powers of communication are sub par. My tongue feels like a halibut, suddenly startled to find itself encased in a mouth. For Eilert Pilarm, Sweden's most famous Elvis impersonator, this what life must be like all the time.
Eilert has a problem with words. I wouldn't fault the guy for singing in an unfamiliar language, except that he tries to do this (semi-)professionally. He should at least know what the words - or indeed, any words - are supposed to sound like. To be quite honest, it might also help if he had more than a passing familiarity with the tune.
This is outsider music par excellence. Sit back, listen to his take on Jailhouse Rock, and let your jaw hit the ground. And then stick a fish in there, just because.
