I've been listening to Shit and Shine a bit more, and I've finally worked out what it is they remind me of: early PiL. PiL are so critically lauded these days, it can be hard to get to grips with how obnoxious they could be when they wanted to. Here's the b-side to the Public Image 7" single, The Cowboy Song. It's a bastard assembly of noise and bass, and a cacophony of voices howling sheer bloody murder. It's hard to like it, but even harder to stop the smile of admiration that accompanies this defiantly awkward music.

Incidentally, John Lydon also wrote a track called The Rabbit Song. Coincidence?
