Troubadour and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis is one of the world's great treasures. Here he turns his considerable wit to a track that not only tells the history of The Fall, but also acts as a splendidly accurate pastiche. It's taken from the compilation album Peverted by Mark E, which mostly continues the grand old tradition of eccentric Fall covers. Lewis knows what he's doing: he's careful not to tune his guitar too well, everything is very matter of fact, and he doesn't stray into the dodgy territory that is Mark E Smith impersonation.
