Zu - Muro Torto
Zu have been featured at Doklands before. Then it was to praise their collaborative release with Eugene Chadbourne, so it's about time we had a proper look at what they do on their own. They play hardcore jazz with a nod towards noise metal, a thunderously intense music from this trio of drums, bass and baritone sax.
Here's Muto Torto from their 2002 release Igneo. It's produced by Steve Albini, who highlights the band's controlled power. If you enjoy the more raucous work of John Zorn or the genre-defying experimentation of Zs, then Zu may be just your sort of thing.
