Karamoko Keita - Fouroui Kadi Ni Kanouye
Awesome Tapes from Africa is one of the more self-explanatory blog titles out there. Thanks to thursdayborn for introducing me to the works of the late Malian guitarist Karamoko Keita. It's great stuff, if unfortunately poorly-recorded. Keita's guitar has an almost hypnotic stutter swing to its rhythm, and on Fouroui Kadi Ni Kanouye there are some top call and response vocals. Recommended for all lovers of the folkier side of Malian music.
