I was disappointed when I heard the version of Bound that appeared on The Fall's album The Marshall Suite. It was a bit flat, a bit safe, and the drums sounded absolutely fucking terrible. What a change from the version that had appeared on the Peel show. That had been hard and urgent and absolutely terrifying in its cacophony. A lot of that has to be down to the absolutely extraordinary piano playing of Julia Nagle, who rides all over the tune with some glorious (and almost entirely unrelenting) dissonance. This is a forgotten gem of a track.
You may notice that the file name doesn't include the band name or any of that nonsense. That's deliberate. On my computer, Fall tracks are like UK postage stamps.
