King Crimson - Indiscipline
Sometimes, what you need is a big noisy blast of rock. But what if, like me, you're a delicate flower who finds low-slung guitars eye-rollingly ludicrous, who finds spandex posturing irredeemable, and who would not be seen dead in the sea of maladjusted denim that is a metal audience. One alternative is this delightfully overdone track by King Crimson, from their 1981 album Discipline. You've got two bona fide guitar heroes in Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp, and it comes with the guarantee of intellectual respectability. How can you go wrong with that? Here's Indiscipline, a tightly-wound Heath Robinsonesque music box of avant-rock, and a great study in obsession. I like it.
