Macho Man Randy Savage - Be a Man
When celebrities make records, something beautiful can happen. It seems unlikely that we'll ever again see the glory days of Star Trek, a TV series that launched the careers of those twin nightingales, Shatner and Nimoy. However, I still hold out hope that one day, another wrestler will step up and stand beside Randy Savage on the stage of musical greatness. I'm not picky. I don't care who it is. Now I've head the Macho Man rap, something inside me demands more, and whether it's Abdullah the Butcher singing Kurt Weill, Superstar Billy Graham's belated solo glockenspiel album, or Kendo Nagasaki performing a startling avant-garde duet with Meredith Monk, I want it.

In 2003, Savage had an epiphany, a moment of unadulterated career madness. At the age of 51, he released his first (and so far only) rap album, Be a Man. Here's the title track, in which he calls out old rival Hulk Hogan for one more big money fight. Trash talking doesn't get better than this. The irony of Savage deriding Hogan's straight-to-video film career in a song of this quality is a rare gem. Ladies and gentlemen, be amazed at the non-comedic, totally straight-faced wordsmith, Mr. Randall Mario Poffo.
