Moon Wiring Club - In Holiday Mood

When a man grows tired of London he has grown tired of life, and when a man grows tired of hauntology he has grown tired of optimism. It's a shame then that so much of hauntological music carries the stigma of vintage clothing and privilege. Moon Wiring Club though, I think they were rather different. Ian Hodgson's band were far more aware of the sinister nature of nostalgia than most of their peers. Theirs was not a retreat to the reassurances of the sound of childhood television, but of the terror that accompanied an as yet unknown world. Here's In Holiday Mood from their 2010 CD A Spare Tabby at the Cat's Wedding. Can we ever be so scared again?
