Amos Milburn - Chicken Shack Boogie

Your local fried chicken shop, it's not exactly a den of sensual pleasures is it? Nothing with that many wipe clean surfaces ever is, and adding ketchup into the mix is seldom considered good foreplay. I dunno, maybe it's just a question of attitude. Amos Milburn sounds like a bloke who could get the party started anywhere that grease ran down your chin. Chicken Shack Boogie is one of the earliest rock records, released in 1948, part jump blues and part boogie woogie. Sure it's good time music, but just listen to how sly Amos was on this recording. Rock'n'roll grew from a germ of irony
