And what sort of title is A Little Bit Of Solidarity Goes A Long Way? I think you know the answer already. It's a bad one. This is where I give you the good news: it's an instrumental. If ASIWYFA can muck up their name and their song titles that badly, I'd hate to think what they would do armed with song lyrics. How about some more good news? It's great music.
I've been a regular user of last.fm for years now. In the past, it's usually provided me with fascinating new music. These days, I have to skip past half a dozen dreary, windy post-rock bands WHO ALL SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME to get to the good stuff. It's a modern plague of young men who want to appear profound by making all their tracks at least 15 minutes long. We barely survived prog rock the first time round, and now these fuckers are going about re-inventing it. And if I had been introduced to ASIWYFA in this way, I would have seen the name, noted the tags, and clicked past it as quickly as possible.
This would have been a bad thing, because unlike the vast majority of their contemporaries, this Belfast based four-piece rock. They are bright and lively, and they deliver a real musical punch. Solidarity, with its mathrock-y guitar and drums, is all over in 3 1/2 minutes, every second of which is crammed full of invention, passion and noise. Don't go looking for hidden depths, because nothing is hidden. Just play it loud on your headphones and make yourself look like an idiot as you enjoy it WAY TOO MUCH.
