Sarah Davachi - Praha

A lot of the slow paced minimal electronic music that we hear get classified as ambient. That's fair enough. It's a style that is often made with timbres that blend into the background. But Sarah Davachi's Praha is anything but ambient.

It's taken from her 2015 release Qualities of Bodies Permanent, a record made entirely on vintage synthesisers. It opens like a bellowed set of drones warming up, ironing out the creases but still unable to proceed without discord. It's very much the electronic equivalent of the bagpipes, as the elderly circuits rumble and hum and try to find a steady state away from Davachi's modulations. Recommended for lovers of meditative drone music and noise freaks alike.
